What will I study in OCN Applied Science?
OCN Level 2 Certificate in Applied Science is delivered by OCN and regulated by CCEA and this qualification has been awarded points which equates to a Grade B at GCSE. This is a 2 Year Course.
OCN Level 2 Applied Science is only available for students following Pathway 1.
Applied Science qualifications will provide learners with the opportunity to develop their knowledge, skills and understanding in a range of key concepts within Biology, Chemistry and Physics and builds upon the Key Stage 3 science curriculum.
These qualifications will allow learners to further develop the following skills:

How will I be assessed in this subject?
This Course is 100% internal assignment based and involves no examinations. Learners are assessed through a portfolio of evidence, practical demonstration assignments and coursework subject to external verification and standardisation.
What will I study?
Study of energy transfer, electricity, forces and motion, waves and radiation.
Study of cellular structure and functions, transport in plants, genetics and inheritance, organisms and their environment.
Study of atomic bonding, periodic table, nature of chemistry, rates of reactions.
What career paths are available to me if I study this subject?
Progression Routes – OCN Applied Science is intended to give learners the knowledge, understanding and skills that will enable them to progress to further learning or training in a science related area.
However, it should be noted that it will not allow students to progress to A-Level Sciences.
