Why should I choose this subject?
If you choose this subject, you will gain an understanding of relevant photographic materials, processes, technologies, and resources. You will explore how ideas, feelings and meaning can be conveyed through image making. There will be opportunities to study historical and contemporary developments, styles, and genres. You will gain an understanding of how the photographic image relates to life and living in the complexities of modern society.
How will I be assessed in this subject?
Assessment will be based around the development of image-based ideas, exploring resources, reviewing, and refining work, recording, and presenting personal and meaningful photographic responses.
What will I study?
Students study practical and critical / contextual work in one or more photographic areas, for example, portraits, landscape, still life, documentary, photojournalism, fashion, experimental imagery etc.
What career pathways are available to me if I study this subject?
Career pathways in the different areas of photography are open to students who study at this level. As well as pure photography other related areas such as TV, film and graphic design are disciplines that value the photographic skill base.
