Dear Year 12 Students
I am delighted to launch to you our Key Stage 5 'Careers and Options Hub' for 2025 entitled ‘Opening Doors to Your Happiness, Your Future, Your Success’. St Malachy’s is proud to be able to offer you a very wide range of subjects at Key Stage 5 and is one of the few schools in Northern Ireland that already fulfils the requirements of the Entitlement Framework. This means that we can offer you more than 30 subjects at Key Stage 5 of which at least one third are applied subjects and the other two thirds are general subjects. In St Malachy’s you can be confident that you have access to high quality pathways which will lead to future success in third level education, further education or the world of work. We are especially proud of the huge range of A-Levels, Applied Courses and BTEC courses.
These exciting pathways have a range of options designed not only to meet the needs of the economy in the 21st century but also to offer you progression routes into a fulfilling career. We are working to introduce courses within the priority growth areas of employment and to support the delivery of the Northern Ireland Economic Strategy. Working in partnership, we aim to enhance your life chances by ensuring that we continue to offer new, exciting, innovative courses which will promote individual, community and economic prosperity.
Take a look inside and you will see subjects organised under the Arts, Business and Enterprise, Creative and Visual Arts, Enrichment, Environment and Society, Languages, Media, STEAM subjects and Sport and Fitness. Please consider your choices carefully and make sure that you ask for advice from your careers teachers. I conclude by reminding you that St Malachy’s has an excellent reputation for not only the range and quality of the curriculum at Post 16 level but also for the outstanding, high value-added outcomes achieved by our students.
I wish you every success in your GCSE exams and remember your future will be blessed with happiness and success.
