Why should I choose Running a Leisure Event?
In this unit the learner will investigate the wide variety of leisure events which take place in Northern Ireland. Learners will develop and use their skills to work effectively as part of a team.
They will have the opportunity to plan a leisure event. They will need to consider the type of event they wish to plan, while also taking into consideration the customer type, the resources required for the event, and health, safety and environmental issues.
Learners will participate in the event and will learn to evaluate their own performance. Career opportunities will also be explored.
This course is being offered as part of the Occupational Studies Single Award, which is equivalent to 1 GCSE.
How will I assessed in this subject?

Student Testimonials
When I studied the Leisure course, I developed lifelong skills such as effective time management, organizing resources and working as part of a team. For the event we invited the local senior citizens within our community to come into the school for a Festive Afternoon Tea.
The senior citizens had a wonderful day as all the team members worked very well and the overall event ran very smoothly and was a huge success. This was also a great opportunity to work with my peers and I had the opportunity to work in different roles within the team.
I feel that I learnt many skills throughout studying the course, and I felt a great sense of achievement after the event. This was a wonderful course to do, and I really enjoyed completing my leisure course with Mrs. Henry.
