Follow Instructions From Adults

It is important to listen to the adults in charge of cars and buses who will be taking you to different places.

Think about the times that you might be taking transport at or around school. What should you do to keep yourself and others safe while you are waiting to get on or off transport?

• Listen to instructions before getting on a bus or car

• Wait for instructions from the adult before leaving your seat.

• Wait with the adult when you are near a road

• Stay away from cars or buses that are moving. You should always be as far away as possible.

• Use walking feet, quiet voices and stay in the middle of the pathway

• Walk quietly when you get into our out of the car or on a bus

• Wait your turn and be patient

• Carry all your belongings safely so you don’t trip

Next think about the things that you should do to be safe on the bus or in a car…

• Listen to instructions from the adults

• Sit on the seat and face forwards

• Keep your bag out of other people’s way

• Make it click - wear a seatbelt!

• Stay in your seat quietly until the car or bus has stopped
