Ask Questions
When we go on a trip, it’s often to try out something different and learn something new. When we ask lots of questions, we find out new information. Watch the video for your year level to find out more about questions together.
It’s really important to question yourself and ask those questions to others to find out more details. Questions start with…
Who?
What?
Where?
Why?
When?
How?
You might be on a trip to Orana Park and want to find out more about giraffes. You could ask questions to the trip leader about this. Try and think of some questions with a buddy or small group. Maybe you could ask…
How long is a giraffe’s tongue?
How tall do giraffes get?
Do giraffes make a noise?
Use the net to make a dice and play the question game with a buddy. Ask them a question that begins with the question starter! Record the questions that you ask each other if you have time.
Get Involved in New Experiences
Watch the video and think about a time that you were worried about trying something new.
How did you feel?
Did you go through with it or not?
What are some new things that might be hard to try? Everyone's experiences in life are different!
Think of something new that you might experience on a school trip that you might be nervous about. How could you help someone who is worried? What could you do to help? How could you support yourself to test out something new?
When we go on a trip, we often try out brand new things. We might have learned about something new and the trip helps us to test out our new knowledge and get involved with something different.
Sometimes we might go on an adventure, like sailing or kayaking or climbing. At first you might be a bit nervous, but if you get out there and try something new, you never know how much you might enjoy it!
If you have time, write about a time where you have been nervous to try something new and how it went for you. For example, maybe you got nervous to go to a new dance class but ended up loving it and being really good at it. If you have let the nervousness take over, you’d never have found something that you love!
