Wash Your Hands Before and After Eating
We need to wash our hands so that we are being hygienic. This means we get rid of all the germs before we eat that might be on our hands. If we put dirty hands onto our food then we might get sick.
Watch this demonstration of correct hand washing technique (this is the method recommended by the World Health Organisation)
Then watch the second clip which tells us about the times we need to wash our hands
Are you washing your hands at the right time and in the right way, or have you learned something new today?
If you have time, make a video about when you should be washing your hands at school. Think about the times that we eat, play and what you might touch or work on in class.
Sit when eating
It is really important to sit when you eat because if you are walking around, you might choke on your food. This one is a real safety expectation!
Talk to a buddy about all the things that you might eat and how important it is to sit while you eat.
Do you know how to help someone if they are choking?
How could you find out if you don't know?
Watch the video to find out the best way to keep yourself safe whilst you eat.
If you have time, design a storyboard about why you should sit while you eat, or make a poster to display in class to remind everyone at lunch eating time!
