Look After Your Own Belongings
We have lots of children at school and things might get lost unless we look after them carefully! We have to make sure that if they do get lost, that people can return our things to us easily.
Have a chat to a buddy or a group and see if you can think of some ways to keep your belongings safe. Think about…
Where you should keep your belongings
How people will know that they are yours
What you need to bring to and from school every day
Where you could keep things when you’re not using them
Next, think about all the things that you might need to bring to school. Use the picture to help you make a checklist! Think about…
What foods or drinks will you need?
What books or homework might you need to bring to school?
Do you need to bring a device?
Is it time to go swimming or on a special trip?
Do you have all the items of clothing you need for the weather today?
If you have time, make a checklist of all the items you need that you could attach to your school bag or keep in your tote tray to help you remember and look after your own belongings.
Help to Keep Your Classroom Tidy
Think about all the equipment you use in your classroom.
What would happen if it was all broken or lost?
How would you get things done?
Where does it all come from?
Where does it all live?
Now think about how you would get your learning done in a messy classroom.
What equipment would you need?
How would you find it.
How would you feel?
For some of us mess isn't a big deal but for others it can be very distracting.
Come up with a plan for your classroom - how will you work together to tidy up equipment?
Get Involved
Watch the video and think about a time that you were worried about trying something new.
How did you feel?
Did you go through with it or not?
What are some new things that might be hard to try? Everyone's experiences in life are different!
Tell a friend about your new experience and think about some tips or a pep talk you could give someone to who is struggling. What would you like to hear if you were finding something tricky and couldn't get it just yet?
If you have time, write an encouraging pep talk that you could give to a friend to help them get involved. Think about the things that you might like if you were worried about getting involved in something new in class!
