The holidays are nearly upon us and we look back and celebrate how far we have come and what has been achieved. Thank you once again for all your support over the term. We made an amazing 605 OMR from the chocolate sale (after paying back parents) which will all go to charity. The children are immensely proud.
This week has seen the amazing KS2 festive concerts where, together with the music team, the children have put on an exciting show to get us in the mood for the holidays! Around rehearsals the classes have still been working hard, finishing off periscopes and spectroscopes in science, their wonderful Poetry Anthologies and continuing their Maths unit on measures! It has been a busy time.
Wishing you all a very peaceful and relaxing holiday and a Happy New Year.
Thursday, 18th December 2025 - End of Term 1 (remember it is an early finish!)
Monday, 12 January 2026 - Sports day

A slight change to homework is that both Maths and spellings will now be set on a Sunday - we hope this will make organisation a little easier for the children.
Reading is expected to be completed daily and all students have the opportunity to change their books regularly. PO’s should be completed and signed daily so that the children have a reading record.
Spelling - No Spelling homework over the holidays
Maths - TTRS
Years 3–6: Monday, 12 January 2026, 8:00 – 1:30 pm on the AWP (please see the letter to parents)
Parents are welcome from 10:30 -1:40
What to wear:
Please ensure your child comes to school in their PE kit on PE days and swimming days, and regular school uniform on non PE days - their timetable has been stuck in their Personal Organiser and can also be found on the Google classroom.
On Mondays we have swimming, please ensure your child comes to school wearing their PE kit//uniform and brings their swim kit in a separate waterproof bag. Please make sure all swimming items are clearly labelled with your child's name.
Water Bottles and hats: Please label everything. Some children have the same water bottles and hats as others and they often get lost.
Email: We welcome communication from parents. If you would like to contact your child’s class teacher about any matter, then you can do so by writing a note in the PO, or for more complex queries please send an email to the school office, and this will be passed onto the correct member of staff. Please note, all emails should be sent via the primary office and not directly to teachers; this ensures that your query can be dealt with as quickly as possible.
The U11 BSME Games will be held in Muscat in February 2026.
For further information about the BSME Games please read this letter from Mr O’Sullivan.
BSM has been running an exciting six week literacy programme called Lexonic for the past few years. It has been met with excitement and in turn proven to be a great success for our children.
Lexonic is a fast, focused and fun teaching programme which aims to improve decoding, vocabulary and comprehension skills. The programme has met with considerable success in the UK and in international schools, in terms of marked pupil progress in a short period of time. It has been designed for pupils with a wide range of abilities in order to ensure enrichment opportunities and challenge at different levels. Due to the great success, all Year 6 children will complete the programme before moving into Year 7. This means that your child may go through the programme in either Term 1, 2 or 3.
The sessions will take place within the school day and are at no additional cost.
Please visit the Lexonic website or arrange to speak to the LFL team for further information: https://www.lexonik.co.uk/
Should you have any questions about the support your child is being offered please do contact the Language for Learning team.

If your child is unwell, leaving early or coming late please complete the Absence Form and the class teacher will be informed.
Please can we request that all children come to school on the day of their swimming lessons with the following equipment:
Swim Uniform in accordance with guidelines.
Swim hats for those with long hair. ALL hats must be secure on the head with no risk of slipping down over the face.
Goggles
Towel
Pool shoes (crocs or equivalent)
A waterproof bag to carry everything in.
Please see our Swimwear Guidelines on the website.
Please do not wear 'swim uniform' into school for hygiene reasons. Please do not wear an alternative gym or running kit for swimming lessons. It's important to use only 'Swim Uniform' and the recommendations listed above in the pool, as other fabrics become incredibly heavy when wet.
We have created WhatsApp groups for parents to know about urgent messages or reminders. Email will continue to be the main form of communication. Please see our BSM WhatsApp Groups Document for all the links. Please read the code of conduct carefully before joining any BSM WhatsApp groups.
