In phonics we have been learning about words which end in al and homophones (words that have the same sound, but are spelled differently and have different meanings).
In English lessons we have been reading more books about Katie Morag’s adventures! These books are about a little girl who lives on a small Scottish island and has lots of adventures. This week we have been writing character descriptions about the different characters, making sure we write in sentences and include lots of adjectives and expanded noun phrases!
In Maths we have been doing lots of skip counting this week! We have been counting in 3s, 5s and 10s forwards and backwards.
In Humanities this week we have been linking our learning to Katie Morag and learning all about England! We have learned about the capital cities and some physical and human features.
In Science we have continued our work on grouping animals according to their characteristics.
In Art this week we have been learning about how to shade neatly!
Please see Google Classroom for some photos of what we have been up to in Discovery Learning this week!
Please check the google classroom each Sunday for full details of homework tasks

Please remember to label everything your child brings to school, including water bottles, lunch bags and swim kits. This will help us reunite any missing items with your child!
If you would like to contact your child’s class teacher then please write a note in the PO or send an email to the primary office, and they will pass this on.
Please click here for the Y2 Curriculum Newsletter for Term 1
If your child is unwell, leaving early or coming late please complete the Absence Form and the class teacher will be informed.
Please can we request that all children come to school on the day of their swimming lessons with the following equipment:
Swim Uniform in accordance with guidelines.
Swim hats for those with long hair. ALL hats must be secure on the head with no risk of slipping down over the face.
Goggles
Towel
Pool shoes (crocs or equivalent)
A waterproof bag to carry everything in.
Please see our Swimwear Guidelines on the website.
Please do not wear 'swim uniform' into school for hygiene reasons. Please do not wear an alternative gym or running kit for swimming lessons. It's important to use only 'Swim Uniform' and the recommendations listed above in the pool, as other fabrics become incredibly heavy when wet.
We have created WhatsApp groups for parents to know about urgent messages or reminders. Email will continue to be the main form of communication. Please see our BSM WhatsApp Groups Document for all the links. Please read the code of conduct carefully before joining any BSM WhatsApp groups.
