It has been a busy and productive term in Year 2! Thank you for all your support, and we wish all families a peaceful and relaxing holiday. 

English

We have been collecting our favourite words and phrases about wintry weather and have been creating senses poems.

In Discovery Learning

This week we have been completing some wintry mathematics puzzles, making 3-snowmen from nets and creating beautiful symmetrical snowflakes!

Homework for next week

Please check the google classroom each Sunday for full details of homework tasks

• Reading: Please record your child’s daily reading in their PO, including the book title, pages read and a signature. 

• Spelling: Each child will have an individualised list of the words that they need to practise and there will be a grid of activities to choose from on Google Classroom!

• English: Check the worksheet in your child’s homework folder. This should be handed in on Sunday. Please make sure they write their name at the top! 

• Maths: Check the worksheet in your child’s homework folder. This should be handed in on Sunday.

For those children moving into 2W in January, a new google classroom will be set up for your class, please check your invites in Google Classroom at the start of next term.

Looking ahead..

We have some dress-up days next term:

• Tuesday, 3rd February 2026 is Crayon day - Come to school dresses as a crayon from our book ‘the Day the Crayons Quit’ or come dressed in your favourite colour

• World Book Day - After the half term holiday come to school dressed as something to do with the dark / night

• Significant People Day, towards the end of term 2: Dress as a significant person that you admire

As the weather is now cooler some PE lessons may happen outside. Please make sure your child brings a hat to school. 

Please remember to label everything your child brings to school, including water bottles, lunch bags and swim kits. This will help us reunite any missing items with your child!

If you would like to contact your child’s class teacher then please write a note in the PO or send an email to the primary office, and they will pass this on.
