FS2 Notices

What an exciting end to a fantastic term! 

• We have had lots of indoor and outdoor discovery learning; feeding the tortoises and Snowy the rabbit,  visiting the Oryx Theatre for a short movie treat together with FS1 and finally singing some songs  with Mr Vacher!

• A big congratulations to all the children for their amazing performance last week. It was wonderful to see them brimming with confidence and singing joyfully on stage with their big voices. We are so proud of them!

• Tomorrow is our last day and we finish early (see general weekly notices) . However, we will still get to attend the primary end of term assembly and then meet our Year 10 buddies for some story time and play time together. NO swimming for FS2 on the last day. 

• We are so grateful for all your support this term. The children are ‘growing up’ fast and they are well on their way to Year 1 readiness! We look forward to seeing you at our next round of parent focus meetings which will begin later in January.  Have a peaceful and enjoyable Winter break.

• There are no library books or reading books over the holiday. However, we will put some reading material onto the Google Classroom for you to use at home. We have sent the POs home so please return them on the first day of school. 

English 

• We are now recapping and consolidating all the taught sight words - a at as in it is I an am and dad go no to into the get got not can on dog cat up mum put had oh him his big has he she we me be of if off for you my they will went from help was all her are too with yes said this that then them 

• A second assessment has been placed in your childs PO - please help us by carrying out a little practice over the vacation.  Please use the Google Classroom resources to reinforce these sounds and consolidate learning at home. 

• The children are encouraged to record and practise letters and sight words - to write simple sentences as a challenge. They are encouraged to write independently talking about weekend news or exciting experiences outside school.  We reinforce capital letters and finger spacing when appropriate. 

In Maths 

we consolidated repeating patterns and shapes names and properties. We will place some support material on the Google Classroom. 

No swimming 

There will be NO swimming on the last day of term due to other commitments - end of term assembly and early closure. Please do not send any swimming bags on the last day.

Spare Clothes from the start of School

We have sent home the children's spare clothes this week as they are no longer needed (as often!) and we do keep our own spares in case of emergencies.

Hats for sports day practice 

Please can all children bring in a cap/hat for PE as we are now going outside on the AWP. We would like to keep the hats in school as this makes it easier each week. Kindly, label them.

Please do not hesitate to contact the Primary Office if you have any questions or queries.

Uniform and Equipment

PE is on a Tuesday (children wear their PE clothes to school all day).

Swimming is on a Thursday (again children wear their PE clothes all day). Please bring in swim wear, towels and ‘crocs’ type shoes in a small bag. Swim hats for long hair please. Goggles are optional.

Correct uniform is to be worn by the children, please check the school website if you are unsure. However, we accept simple alternatives in the first weeks of the year especially with PE and swimming kits. Please speak to a teacher if you have any worries.

House colours for PE t-shirts are sent via the Parent Portal.  Ruwi is Red, Yitti is Yellow, Ghubra is Green and Bowsher is Blue. 

Please can we remind you to label all snack boxes, water bottles and other items that children bring into school, this prevents any upset when children mix up their belongings with others. 

Every child should bring a bottle of water every day. We are able to support them with refilling if they need more at any time. Juices and other drinks are not necessary at school - but can be given as a supplement inside their lunch box if you so wish. 

Google Classroom

If you are still experiencing problems with the Google Classroom please let the Primary Office know and we will endeavour to support you.

The FS2 timetables are uploaded into a folder on each Google Classroom.

We will use the Google Classroom for extra messages from class teachers and upload photographs of special occasions for you to enjoy.

During the course of the year, we will also upload optional activity packs and resources to use at home.

Gate opening times

Please note that the Blue EYFS Gate opens at 7:10 am and closes promptly at 7:30 am. Punctuality is very important, as FS2 children begin structured phonics and maths sessions during this time.

Parent Badges

Parents must wear their school badges with red lanyard on site at all times.

Absences

If your child is unwell, leaving early or coming late  please complete the Absence Form and the class teacher will be informed.
