! Hotmail and Outlook Email Delivery Issues

Our IT team has been investigating a number of email delivery issues reported to us, affecting Microsoft Hotmail & Outlook accounts. Microsoft appears to be blocking emails sent from our mail delivery system (Sendgrid).

To help ensure you continue to receive school communications, we would recommend adding a Gmail email address as an additional contact email.
(It is possible to forward emails from this new Gmail to your hotmail address).

Inspection and Parent Survey

IBSM will be welcoming the Education Development Trust (EDT) into school to undertake a rigorous inspection against the British Schools Overseas standards in the first week of February. To support this process, it is very important to them to hear from our parent community. As such, they have sent us a survey for you to complete to help them better understand our school.

We are delighted to invite you to our Parent Workshop run by Ms Akthar and Mr Bowker. This session will offer top tips and strategies that may support parents at home.

To help us ensure we are able to plan effectively please complete this very quick sign up.

For the event:

Please meet in the Main Reception from 7:35am and a member of the team will escort you to the session.
Ensure you are wearing your red parent lanyard. If you do not have your parent lanyard and card with you, you will need to sign in at reception.
Park at the TOP of school. Access will not be available from the bottom of school.

Before 7:30am: Please park at the top of school, outside of the car park, along Al Nadhayer Street, Way 1949 and Way 1947.
After 7:30am: Parking will also be available in the top carpark after 7:30am

Parent Teacher Conferences: Y1 - Y6

Sign up before Sunday 8 February 2026

We will begin our Parent - Teacher meetings for students in Years 1 - 6 shortly. To view the dates available for you to meet your class teacher, please see your year group’s page of the Notices Sites. (EYFS parents have been contacted separately about their meetings.)

Please sign up for your 15 minute appointment via the Parent Portal as soon as possible. Sign up is open until Sunday 8 February.

Collaborative Music Day (Y3 and above)

Friday 13 February 2026, 8am - 1pm

We are delighted to be hosting another Collaborative Music Day, bringing together students from schools across Muscat for a morning of shared music-making through singing, wind band and a small string group. It’s a wonderful opportunity for students to collaborate with new peers, build confidence and enjoy the excitement of performing together.

Students will rehearse during the morning, finishing with a short performance in the Oryx Theatre at 12:30pm, which parents are warmly invited to attend. Please complete the sign-up form below if your child would like to attend.

Key information:

For students in Y3 and older
Students should bring a water bottle and food (this is a nut-free event)
The event is free of charge
Please note that school uniform is NOT required for this day, although clothing should be in line with normal local cultural expectations.

Timing:

Drop-off: 8:00am (at the top of school)
Performance in Oryx theatre: 12:30 pm (Parents can be on site from: 12:15 pm, please park at the top of school)
Collection: 1:00pm (from the top of school)

Primary Production: Ye Ha! Tickets On Sale Next Week!

Saddle up for a rootin'-tootin' adventure with our production of Ye-Ha! This high-energy Wild West musical by Craig Hawes is packed with catchy tunes, hilarious puns, and a "gold mine" of colourful characters. Tickets (wristbands) will be on sale from reception soon.

U11 Boys Football Result

The U11 Boys’ Football Team finished second in yesterday’s MPSL Football Tournament held at ABA. The team went through the tournament undefeated and played some excellent football throughout.

The Most Valuable Player (MVP) for the tournament was Jenson.

As the holy month of Ramadan approaches; we wish you and your family a peaceful and blessed month. We would like to remind you that our school hours remain unchanged. If your child will be fasting during Ramadan, please let us know by completing this form before Monday 16 February, so we can ensure your child’s teachers and our School Nurses are aware.

BSM Book Week: Our 2026 Book Week theme is The Dark!

1 - 5 March 2026

Our 2026 Book Week theme is The Dark!

Throughout BSM's Book Week the children will explore stories and poems inspired by night-time, shadows, and nocturnal creatures. To start our week, everyone will be invited to wear their pajamas and bring their favourite bedtime read (& teddy bear). On World Book Day (5 March) everyone is invited to dress up as a word linked to the dark or night, a nocturnal animal, or a character from a favourite night-time story.

Across the school, we’ll all be reading The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark by Jill Tomlinson and The Dark by Lemony Snicket, along with other wonderful night-time/dark themed books. It promises to be a magical week of reading, creativity, and imagination under the stars!

Access to BSM during the day

A reminder that the BSM campus is not open for visitors or parents between 7:30am–4:20pm. If you have a meeting, please sign in at the main reception and you will be escorted at all times whilst on site. Thank you for keeping our school safe.

BYOD: Chromebooks

We are beginning to standardise our device strategy around Google Chromebooks to ensure a consistent, reliable and user-friendly learning platform across the school. With this in mind, we kindly ask that any new devices purchased for your child for use in school are Chromebooks. Please see our BYOD document for further information.

BSM Tuck Shops

Are you leaving us?

Weekly Emails

Every Wednesday afternoon we send out a newsletter to keep you up to date with what’s been happening in school and to let you know about the exciting events coming up. We really encourage you to read these each week so you don’t miss out.

If you do not receive these emails, please first check your spam or junk folder. If the problem continues, kindly log in to the Parent Portal to ensure we have the correct email address on record. Alternatively, get in touch with us and we will be happy to assist.

Email delivery issues

If you are missing an email from school, please check we have your details correct on our Parent Portal.

We are aware of a few problems with our emails not being received by parents, particularly for Yahoo and Hotmail addresses. To help our emails make it to your inbox we would recommend the following:

Gmail users - emails sometimes go into the 'promotions' tab and occasionally 'spam'. Please check both these folders. To correct, you can just drag and drop one such message to the 'Primary' mailbox and click Yes on the confirmation box for all future messages. Saving our email addresses will also help (see below).
Yahoo & Hotmail users - emails sent to a group (such as a class or year group) are often filtered out as spam by Yahoo and Hotmail. You can avoid this by adding the email addresses below to your contacts. Please also consider providing us with an alternative email address to contact you.

"No nuts" at BSM

Here at BSM we recognise that food allergies are a serious concern. 1 in 50 children have an allergy to nuts with some having severe, life threatening reactions (Anaphylaxis). In order to protect our students with severe nut allergies, we have a no nut policy.
