While working in a group of 3(ish) classmates, create a freestanding, 3-dimensional sculpture with:
20 pieces of cut paper
Scissors
NO Waste left over (use all of the paper)
NO adhesives (glue/tape)
ONE class period
You may research, but you only have 1 period.... (linked below is my paper about paper sculpture)
The bigger challenge is to make the most interesting one out of all of the groups in the class. The top sculptures will be on display in the classroom!
Within a group of 4 classmates, make a matching shoe (only 1 is needed) and hat pair.
Must be made only of Newspaper and Tape
You can use scissors
No use of markers/pencils, etc... make it out of newspaper and tape it on
Your designs should be sized for an average teenager/adult
Work together as a team to find a way to make the newspaper as strong as leather.
Think about folding, weaving, twisting, joining, and crumpling. You can make laces, buckles, heels, bows, and bells.
They can be sneakers, pixie boots, clown shoes, moccasins, flip flops, moon boots...be creative!
Think about things you could use as decoration/design elements that could be applied to both, and make them "match" (lace, designs, characters, etc...)
Top designs will be on display during our Open House on Monday!
Build a table out of recycled materials that can support the weight of a dictionary.
Create a kinetic sculpture out of 20 blank index cards.
Create the longest line you can using only three sheets of paper and tape.
Create a hat you would wear if you were a style icon.
Work as a team to use each material in the “Mystery Bag” at your table to create one, complete masterpiece!
Marshmallow Spaghetti Challenge: Using only tape and 20 piece of spaghetti, build a sculpture that support the weight of a marshmallow.
What was the easiest part of this challenge?
What challenges did you encounter? How did you solve these?
How did you break up the job with your teammates?
