Creating limitations on yourself forces new ways of solving a problem and you end up being more creative than you would have been if you had all the options in the world. For this challenge, we are going to limit ourselves to using a circle for the primary shape/boundary of our objects.
This can be done in an old sketchbook, old schoolwork, copy paper, lined paper, on an Amazon box,
If you are in an advanced art, you should be challenging yourself... Don't be lame.
To begin - draw thirty circles on a sheet of paper (around 1.5")
Now try to adapt those circles into as many objects as you can, in less than 3 to 5 minutes (you can choose literally any time period, but it should make you somewhat frantic).
Draw whatever comes to your mind, but keep it simple — just a few lines will do to draw a ball or a clock. Right now, it’s not about being smart or inventive.
It’s a “quantity over quality” situation. Subconsciously, we always self-censure ourselves and when we feel like an idea sounds stupid or infeasible, we pull back. When you stop filtering your ideas, you have a chance to reach a part of your mind that’s usually idle.
To begin, draw 9 circles on a sheet of paper (around 2.5")
Create a drawing within the circle boundaries, using details and/or texture
Challenge yourself with the idea or concept of the drawing. For example, don’t just draw obviously round things: apple, face, basketball etc… or the same thing 9 different ways
May NOT use more than 1 of an item, even if you alter it (such as; emoticons, numbers, clocks...)
Look around your house and yard for inspiration
Having a theme is an excellent way to challenge yourself AND come up with more ideas!
You may use any medium, but you must still have details or texture
