As fall approaches, it's crucial to reflect on past experiences and also envision hopes for the future.
Beginning with a discussion on the school year during the pandemic...
1. How did you feel about online schooling?
With online school there were definitely some pros and cons. I liked staying in bed and just being able to stay on my phone, but I hated the fact that the internet could go out at any time or the fact that the meeting would get glitchy. I’m also a visual learner so it was super hard to learn over the computer.
2. What will you miss about online school? There are some elements of online school that I will miss, such as being in bed and also being able to eat at any time. Although these were relaxing and non-stressful aspects of my routine, I’m excited to go back to school and enjoy the "normality" of being in that environment.
Now focusing more on this upcoming school year...
3. What are you excited for this school year?
I’m personally very excited to get a locker. Along with that, I am looking forward to living a normal high school life after all of this time. I am definitely anticipating seeing my friends and creating long-lasting memories.
4. What are you nervous about for this new school year?To start, I’m nervous that we might have to continue with online school again. I am also anxious of the idea of an overwhelming amount of work, especially considering that I have to take the PSATS this fall.
5. Were there any BACS traditions that you had heard about but had to miss out on due to COVID?
Previously, my advisor had mentioned that there is an annual "Lock-In" at Blackstone. I had thought that it sounded really exciting and I was bummed out that I missed the chance to experience it. I'm hoping that there will be one at some other point in the future.
While there are many areas of the past to focus on, it is also necessary to have a positive outlook and admire all of the bright places that you are headed. Remember that there is no doing without first thinking.
