Nordelta, a gated community located in Buenos Aires Argentina. The dreamy landscape built on the river Parana wetlands, the second most important river in South America. A large amount of capybaras have taken over the land, hundreds of them have been eating gardens and plants, leaving “presents” on lawns and even attacking dogs. Many residents have taken out weapons to try and kill the capys but local wildlife officials have defended them.
Is this just a case of animals invading or is this something bigger? There have been campaigns demanding that Argentina protect its wetlands more from development. That development has caused flooding into lower class/poorer areas because they take away the land's absorbing functions.
These rich people take their home, build houses on it, destroy the ecosystem, and then have the audacity to call capys pests and nuisance! I don't think so, the capybaras have taken a stand, hundreds of them have taken over Nordelta and retaking what was once their home, this is a class war against the rich people of Nordelta. They have support from the public, social media and even the Japanese embassy supports them.
This is the revolution led by the capybara.
On a side note Capybaras are such nice animals who are usually friendly and are very very wholesome. Here's some proof :)
