Mental Prep

Mental preparation is something each person should do. Everyone is nervous for school but being prepared can ease some of that anxiety. We haven't had a regular school life in almost two years, and while some students did hybrid learning, it still just isn't the same. It'll be hard getting back into the school life cycle, but there are steps we can take to start getting back into that routine.
From my personal experiences online school was difficult; being in a Zoom call felt the same as having a YouTube video in the background. It was hard to stay focused with so many distractions around. The days felt the same: wake up, join calls, work, leave calls, and repeat. At a certain point, it started to feel unimportant because it didn't feel like school anymore. It hardly felt like you were learning anything and it just felt like a chore. Hybrid learning helped me out a bit. It gave a sense of importance because you were in an actual classroom with teachers. Writing on paper felt better than staring at a screen and typing away for hours. Being in school is better than laying in bed on a computer for 6+ hours.
Personally, what has helped me was having a good sleep schedule - sleeping earlier and waking up earlier will assist in getting you back into a normal routine. Next, taking a shower and eating breakfast will help wake you up so you're not tempted to go back to bed. Another thing that you can do is start reading. If you get into the habit of reading you will thank yourself later. Book options can range anywhere from story books and novels to news articles and even comic books. Reading will help your brain with memory, relaxes you, and gives your eyes a break from screens.
Taking this into consideration, hopefully these small steps to become mentally prepared will give you some peace of mind throughout this anxiety-inducing school year.
