Last week we finished reading James and the Giant Peach. We are into our Pilgrims simulation completely now and your child will be coming home with many stories to share!
WORDS OF THE WEEK: hesitate, optimistic
In reading, we will continue our study of cause and effect relationships in text, however we will use nonfiction texts to locate these relationships. There's no better way than to bring in our study of the Pilgrims. We will be reading from "The Landing of the Pilgrims" by James Daugherty to find many cause and effect situations. In math we are starting multiplication. Multiplication is being introduced with arrays. "What do you see?" Be on the lookout on SEESAW for a lesson on arrays. We are still working on capitalization and punctuation of different types of sentences in writing. Your student will be practicing by making sure all their journal entries on SEESAW have captions!!

1. The character your child chooses to be, your child should know about. Your child should be "an expert of sorts" on that character when questioned.
2. Please be creative and remember that homemade, preowned items, recycled things, etc. make great character outfits and their attire doesn't need to be a "purchased costume". Mine isn't!
3. The character you choose might look like they have a mask, weapon, or blood and guts, however, for your child's day at school, none of those things can be worn or part of their Book Character Dress Up Day.
4. Be mindful that your child will still have recess, brain break, and possibly P.E., so proper shoes need to be worn.
