What another FANTASTIC week we had! Our Pilgrims simulation is complete and we celebrated with a FEAST thanks to every single parent! I can't tell you how much I appreciate your willingness to provide food items, your time to set-up, serve, and clean-up, and your eagerness to attend this event with and for our class! Thank you, thank you, thank you for helping make this such a success!!

Thankful Turkey:

Today we told our friends how thankful we are for them! I am so impressed with your child's sincerity and the specific things they appreciated their classmate for!

objectives for the week:

WORDS OF THE WEEK: apprentice, fund, entrepreneur

We will begin the novel Christmas Magic by Patricia Hermes. This book will guide our reading instruction each day and we will use it for our text to reference when covering the skills of the week up until we leave for Christmas Break. In math, learning our multiplication facts are still a top priority. I will introduce distributive property this week. Students love to learn this "algebraic property" and feel like big kids!! Mystery Doug, Bill Nye, and Motivational Science will help guide us in our science lessons this week. In social studies we will be discussing how communities meet the needs of those people who live there (i.e. education, transportation, government, recreation).

News:

  • Please make sure your child is working on their multiplication facts and reading daily. BAS testing for middle of the year begins the first week of December.
  • SCOOTPAD is a great way for students to have their individual academic needs targeted in both reading and math. Please encourage your child to work at home!!
  • As the weather goes back and forth, up and down, please check daily that your child has the appropriate clothing for outside. We do need to get our wiggles out and exercise is so important for the brain! We go outside as long as it is above freezing!
  • Next week are parent/student/teacher conferences. Thank you for selecting a time slot for us to meet and planning on being here!
