Map suitability
Much of the map is typical Bendigo gentle spur gully terrain. As such it is suited to red line style course setting. Not suited to middle or long distance style courses.

Access issues:
The map has some areas of private land.
- A - This is land owned by Hazeldenes. Do not set courses that use this land without permission from Hazeldenes. It is used for waste management and entry may at some times create biosecurity issues.
- B - This is the land around what is known colloquially as Andrew's dam. WE and other users have used this land for years. The land has recently been put on the market and this may eventually mean the block will be fenced off. Before setting courses it would be best to check if this land is still open. If it remains unfenced, then there are no consequences from setting courses that traverse the land.
- C, D - These are areas of inobvious alienated land. Ownership is unknown and it indistinguishable from Crown Land forest. We (and other forest users) have continued to use this land without seeking permission. The land may well be alienated but owned by the Crown anyway. It might be adviseable to drive past just to check that development hasn't happened before setting courses.
Assembly sites:
- Rocky Rises dam area. Access via Rocky Rises Rd. Can handle a local event but not larger.
- Andrews Dam has been used in the past. Permission has never been sought. The site of quite a few local events including flour fight raft regattas and Bikie wet T-shirt competitions. Limited parking and potentially fenced off in the future. Best not to use.
- Hazeldenes paddock. Private land. Used once for a major event after gaining permission of the landholder. Probably not worth the effort of chasing permission for a local event.
- Potential site along gas line track near Hazeldenes paddock.
- The end of Drinkwater Lane (off Rocky Rises Rd). There will be a short walk to the map along a disused laneway.
