Map suitability
Terrain quite unusual for Bendigo. A dense track network and large areas of thick regrowth following the 2009 fires. Interestingly, the mining detail has remained clear of regrowth. The result is a bush sprint map with lots of opportunity for route choice.

Access issues:
Parks have at times muttered about closing this area due to risk of falling timber. .
Assembly sites:
1, 2 Batten St. Parking along Staley St. Lots of parking.
3 Terminus of Bonazza St. Suit small event only.
Safety Issues:
No mine shafts known but would be risk of new ones appearing after a prolonged wet period.
Map status:
Originally mapped in 2002 by Alex Tarr at 1:15,000 scale as part of the Devonshire Reef orienteering map
Remapped to ISSOM standard at 1:5,000 scale by Neil Barr 2005. Following the 2009 bushfire and
regrowth, the area was remapped by Neil Barr in 2013 using a lidar base and a new field work of the whole area.
