Data contained in spreadsheets is important. More importantly, though, is the organization of the data and your ability to format the data so it is aesthetically pleasing to others. Spreadsheets are often used in presentations; so, being able to place borders around cells, colour-coding information, or even placing a company logo will make your work stand out.

Formatting Google Sheets (real)

Complete the following steps in order:
Step 1: Open Formatting Sheets. Save your copy as Formatting Sheets - Firstname Lastname in your Practice folder.
/3 Step 2: Center the four column headings—Name, Sales, Rate, and Commission—horizontally. Make the headings 12-point, bolded text.
/2 Step 3: Bold the text in cell A12, and make it 12-point text as well.
/1 Step 4: Format the numeric values in columns C and E to currency ($) with a comma style number (e.g., $1,000.20). (Refer to 2: The Basics of Spreadsheets if you need to review formatting numbers.)
/1 Step 5: Format the numeric values in column D to percent with two decimal places.
/1 Step 6: Fill cells A5:E5 and cells A12:E12 with a light shade of gray.
/1 Step 7: Border cells A5:E5 and cells A12:E12 with a top and bottom border.
/1 Step 8: Turn off the gridlines.
/1 Step 9: Change the colour of the worksheet tab at the bottom to green.
/1 Step 10: Make a copy of the Sheet1 worksheet. Rename this copy Table Styles.
/2 Step 11: Highlight only the chart you have created and format a colour scheme for your chart. Go to Format - Alternating Colours to pick an appropriate colour scheme.
Step 12: Check to see that your Sheet1 worksheet looks like this. Submit your Formatting Sheets on Google Classroom.
