Setup
You will need your laptop and wired headphones for every class. Do the following:
Tech 10 Google Classroom:
Bookmark the Tech 10 Classroom so it appears in your Bookmark bar.
Tech 10 Google Site:
Bookmark the Tech 10 Site so it appears in your Bookmark bar.
Chrome:
Download, install, and use Chrome as your browser.
Sign in to Chrome using your Bearspaw Google account. This will give you access to all Google apps.
Securly:
Ensure you have Securly installed by trying to access Reddit. If it's blocked, Securly is working :)
If you are having issues accessing normal Google apps, ask your teacher to check that you've installed Securly properly.
PowerSchool:
Go to the bearspawschool.com bookmarks folder (if you don't see it, you're not using Chrome or you haven't logged in to Chrome via your BCS account)
Log in to PowerSchool and navigate it in order to view grades and assignments.
Cloud Print - Papercut http://papercut.bearspawschool.com:9163/setup
Check to see that you can access Cloud Print and all applicable printers at BCS. You'll definitely want access to printer 1202. It is currently not working.
If you are having issues with printing, ask your teacher to check that you've installed the PaperCut Client properly.
Gmail
Check your BCS Gmail.
Bookmark your BCS Gmail and/or if you do not anticipate checking your inbox daily, have this account forward your emails to your primary email account. You will still be expected to create school-related emails using your BCS Gmail account.
Check your email signature. It should include your full name and current grade. Add any other creative flourishes you like.
Delete, archive, or otherwise file any emails taking up space in your inbox. You should consider creating folders/labels for each subject and sports, worship, or other activities you're involved with that you'll receive emails for.
Google Drive
This course will require you to create folders and files within Drive; however, it is recommended that you create a folder for each course you are in and consider colour-coding for easy identification (you might choose the same colour as the course's Classroom, or one that you associate with that subject).
Bookmark your BCS Google Drive. Consider creating sub-bookmarks for each course folder.
Check for untitled files. Title these and file them appropriately, or delete them if no longer relevant or needed.
Go through any remaining files, and sort them into appropriate folders or delete them.
