The Casemanager facilitates IEP and Evaluation Team Meetings.
On the day of the IEP meeting, arrive early at the location, make sure everything is set up and ready for the family, as well as the rest of the team. Double-check that you have all of the documents you need. (The Intentional IEP).
When an interpreter is present, speak to the family, not the interpreter. Speak 2-3 sentences at a time, then allow for interpretation.
AS THE CASEMANAGER, YOU ARE IN CHARGE OF LEADING THE IEP MEETING TO MAKE SURE:
things are moving along and staying within the timeframe/follow the agenda
the paperwork is prepared (agenda, NOTM for attendance signatures)
participant attendance is documented and uploaded to SpEd Forms history
parents/guardians understand any educational or special ed jargon
team decisions are being made; all team members are participating and being heard
all data is true and accurate
you are providing the student with the least restrictive environment and addressing all required components
