This year, the battle of the rams went beyond just the football teams. The student sections battled it out in multiple different events at halftime to determine the real herd. This new annual tradition brought excitement to the halftime show and involved the students to a new extent.
There were a total of 18 students from each school who either participated in the tug of war or the relay race on the field during halftime. One of these students was senior Harry Clark who ran as the senior boy in the relay race.
“It was an amazing event to be a part of and I really think that it brought a lot more excitement to the crowd and school spirit,” Clark said.
The school spirit was very evident when Badin took the W and the whole crowd erupted and started the “real herd” chant.
“My relay personally lost our race but as a team we won which was amazing. Supporting the tug of war team as they took the win was amazing. I will never forget running and jumping around after they dominated,’ Clark said.
The new tradition that is planned to be annual is an awesome addition to the cross town rivalry. The involvement of the student is amazing and the excitement it brings to the student sections just adds levels of great things to rivalry and each school's spirit.
