On Friday, August 20, 2021 everything felt normal at Mount Healthy High School, the first football game back to normalcy with a student section and lots of fans in the stands. The theme was blackout and the Rams won 27-7.
The Rams were led week 1 by the rushing offense and the defense. Senior running back Jack Walsh had 176 yards along with two touchdowns. Junior Carter Russo, also had one rushing touchdown. Quarterback Landyn Vidourek added 78 rushing yards and a touchdown.
“The defense definitely stepped up in weeks 1 and 2 but we fixed it on offense and got it together in week 3,” Vidourek said.
With student sections back in the stands and chaos being back in the corner, Eli Halverson and Ian Sabourin are the leaders of the student section this year.
“During the course of a play you don’t really hear anything because you just tune it out, but after a big play it gets really loud and it’s a great atmosphere to play in” Vidourek said.
Student section co-leader Eli Halverson is super excited to be back in the stands and is extremely excited for the rest of the year’s student sections.
“Being back in the student section, hearing the fight song, chanting for [Luke] Chino, just everything about it made it special,” Eli Halverson said.
The football team is 3-0 heading into week 4 against Roger Bacon. The Rams are ranked number 1 in Division 3, for the second consecutive week, by Miami Valley Football Vault, a media company in the Dayton area.
The Rams are looking to continue their hot start throughout their season to drive them to the playoffs.
¨We are so excited to be back in the stands and we cannot take any game for granted. Last year taught me a lot about being in the moment. I'm going to support my classmates in every game I can,” Halverson said.
