Hunter Harrison, standout Badin senior, is a three year starter as a defensive lineman at Badin. Through the past two years, he has been only two wins away from going to state. This year is his last attempt at it and the only team in his way is Butler.
“This past year we have been able to make a total brotherhood with each player on our team.” said Harrison when asked about the relationships on the team. “We all have each other’s back. We are doing it for each other.”
Harrison has had an outstanding year with 37 total tackles and two sacks.
“Everyone of us who did not play baseball would come to lifting in the offseason with bad intentions,” Harrison said. “Coach (Yordy) doesn’t say it much but we all knew coming in that we had the same idea in mind. That idea is state.”
Last week, Harrison had a standout game against McNicholas. Badin won that game 48-21.
“We had something to prove to everyone at Badin. One thing that people close to me have taught me was to keep close to the people who are there for you through thick and thin” Harrison said, “We came out with the most energy we ever had and jumped on them from the start and it just continued throughout the rest of the game.”
The upcoming opponent, Vandalia Butler, is in the Miami Valley League with a 3-6 record. Two of those wins were forfeits.
“I don’t understand how they made the playoffs. How can you have a losing streak and get in over teams with a .500 record?” Harrison said. “Like pennies. Who in the world wants pennies!”
