Swim season is coming to a close soon and some seniors have begun to recollect on their accomplishments and the time they have spent participating in their beloved sport. For most of them this final post season marks the last few times they will enter the pool competitively. This is a great time for them to lament on their favorite memories from the past.
“My favorite memory is senior night meet at Miami University. It was the perfect way to end my last tri meet. I had such a great time and got to spend it with all of my close friends,” senior Ellie Gibbons said.
Gibbons has been swimming since she was four years old and started winter swim her freshman year. She has been a valuable asset to all the teams she has been a part of and will be missed by all of her teammates.
“My favorite swim memory is last summer when I placed 12th in YMCA swimming in the long course 200 meter butterfly,” senior Brandon Burke said.
Burke has been swimming for 11 years and has won multiple awards over the course of his swimming career. He swims year round and has found much success in his abilities to fly through the water. His teams will miss him after all the time he has dedicated to all the swim teams he's been a part of.
“My favorite memories from summer swim are winning championships for many years in a row and breaking a 30 year old relay record. My favorite memories from high school swim are GCLs every year where I got to swim the 50 freestyle every year and team bus rides in the time before covid” senior Kylie Spade said.
Spade has been swimming since she was nine, starting at New London Swim Club and then for Badin. She has been a part of many very successful relays and has made it far every year in the swim postseason. Her teams will all miss her once she has completed her final winter and summer swim seasons.
These swimmers have accomplished much over their time in the pool and there are great things ahead for them all. These last few meets will definitely be something to keep your eye on.
