Indoor track has had an exciting season and with the season winding down, the seniors have begun taking a look back at their success in the past few seasons. Senior Kaiden Thomas has been running on the indoor track team for four years.
“My favorite memory from indoor track is the pool workouts we did sophomore year. They were fun for the whole team and we would always have time to mess around in the pools after practice,” Thomas said.
Thomas was pretty proud of the team this year. He said they saw a lot of success and the team did really well. They had multiple state runners this year.
“My advice to anyone who is getting into Indoor Track would be to take it seriously and have fun,” Thomas said.
Thomas isn’t the only senior on the track team. Senior Liz Burley has been running for four years and has had many fun experiences on the team.
“My favorite indoor track memory would be making it to state my sophomore year. It was a great experience and I’m so happy I got to do it,” Burley said.
Burley really liked the team but felt the chemistry just wasn’t the same as in the past. This was due to either the loss of some past runners or the shift of the entire team dynamic. Despite the changes in the team she had fun and has some words for new runners.
“You get out as much as you put in, don’t join if you don’t feel like doing any work. Always be sure to try your best everyday,” Burley said.
Senior Mallory Smith has been running indoor track for three years now. She has been to state, showing off her talent for running. Smith loved the team this past year.
“We were obviously the fastest, coolest, best team ever this year and I had so much fun,” Smith said.
Smith was sad to end the season but kept her head up hoping to inspire her other teammates as well as encourage new runners to work hard.
“Stay determined when you start and always keep your head up. Consistently try as hard as you can in every action you do and you’ll see success,” Smith said.
