Wrestling season is winding down and the team has begun the post season grind. Kicking off this transition the team made its way to the GCL meet. Badin won the meet sweeping all the teams present. Many wrestlers placed in top places as well. Junior Ryan Hogan placed second overall only losing a single match.
“I am very proud of how far I made it. It was a battle and in the end it came down to a single match but I am very happy with how far I managed to get. Hopefully next year I can get to first” Hogan said.
Hogan wasn’t the only placer however, senior Will Poehner also placed second, only losing a single match as well.
“I am happy how it turned out, a little disappointed that I didn't get first but I gave it all I had and thats the best I could ask for” Poehner said.
Freshman Kai Samples surprised many people placing first in his weight class at GCL.
“I was pretty shocked in the moment that I pulled it off. I have been giving this sport my all and it paid off big time. I can’t wait to wrestle Sectionals and hopefully keep winning my next three years at Badin” Samples said.
Other placers include Rachel Nusky taking third, Logan Felsheim and Caden Hage taking second, and Tommy Schuster, Zach Yordy, Jake Graf, Garret Dunaway, Kaden Starks, and Eli Emmons taking first. Overall these wrestlers are looking forward to sectionals next week and seeking further success.
