The Badin Track and Field team had a very successful first meet at Lasalle on March 26th with several first place finishes and numerous top three and top five finishes as well.
First place finishers include Sophomore Nick Dunn in the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:50.29, Senior Dominic Seigel in the 3200 meter run with a time of 10:16.43, and Senior Jackson Niesen in long jump with a distance of 18 feet 5 inches.
“I surprised myself with how I competed. I thought I would do okay but never expected to do this good. This kind of just shows the kind of work we have been doing and how great we can be this season”, Niesen said.
These athletes have been working harder than ever to hit new personal records and this is just the beginning of what will be accomplished this season.
“I’m really excited for the rest of this season. We’ve been working hard during practice and outside of practice just to become better than we were last season, and it's our turn to show what we can do”, Senior Jack Walsh said.
Success was seen in all categories during this meet as we can see from the number of top five place finishers.
The top five place finishers include the following: Junior Maura Mathews, Senior Liz Burley, Senior Abby Leiss, Freshman Abby Mathews earned 5th in the 4x800 relay, Seigel, Senior Collin Lapthorn, Sophomore Brady Hilgeman, Dunn earned 3rd in the 4x800 meter relay, Junior Braedyn Moore earned 3rd in the 100 dash, Moore, Junior Kaden Starks, Junior John Ruppert, Niesen earned 2nd in the 4x200 relay, Seigel earned 3rd in the 1600 run, Niesen, Starks, Walsh, Moore earned 3rd in the 4x100 relay, Ruppert earned 3rd in the 400 dash, Starks, Niesen, Ruppert, Moore earned 4th in the 4x400 relay, Starks earned 3rd in shot put, Senior Max Kramer earned 4th in shot put.
Coaches and players alike have set the bar high for this season, and this shows that the sky's the limit.
