On November 7, Badin welcomed all 7th and 8th grade students interested in learning more about Badin. There is a lot of preparation for Open House.
Principal Brian Pendergest, Dirk Allen, Director of Admissions and Media Relations and Angie Gray, Director of Marketing Communications, worked hard along with many other faculty and staff members to make this year’s Open House the best, as they do every year for prospective students.
Brian Pendergest said, “Matt Thompson, the Director of Facilities, and the Maintenance Department work really hard to make sure the building and grounds look great. Chuck McKinney, Coordinator of Sponsorships, took care of arranging the tent for the golf course entrance and the teachers make sure their rooms are ready.”
Our faculty really focuses on making Badin look as best as possible by planning ahead and focusing on little details that make the tour better.
Angie Gray said, “I begin planning for Open House in the summer months. There are a lot of details that need to be thought about to make it a great day for our guests. September and October are pretty much filled with Open House planning - advertisements on billboards, magazines, schools, etc; postcard mailings, social media blasts, and more.”
Badin allows for a germ free experience while still getting the information needed to fully capture it.
Gray follows with, “This year we moved away from printed pamphlets for each department and made each department a webpage that had all the information about their class offerings, extra curricular activities, etc. in addition to a student video.”
Parents and students that come to the Open House always seem to have great things to say.
Dirk Allen said, “We feel like we have a very good Open House. The feedback we get is always positive. Our faculty and staff understand what an important day this is, and they do a great job chatting with our guests and prospective students.”
Badin students express their love for the school by being an Ambassador and giving tours.
Allen expresses, “ The Ambassadors are always enthusiastic about giving tours and I am confident that our guests feel the positive vibe about Badin from our students. Recruiting Badin is my job -- but when the students are out there talking up the school, that's what really resonates with our guests.”
There are many components that make a tour great, one of which is the weather.
Allen ends with, “What really helps, of course, is when you have a beautiful day like we had on Sunday, Nov. 7! If the weather is lousy, people might not want to make the trip. That certainly wasn't an issue for us in 2021!”
The environment at Badin sets itself apart by the atmosphere, environment, and opportunities.
Pendergest said, “We hope all attendees see a welcoming, encouraging, supportive environment. We also hope they see the numerous opportunities that are here for each student.”
Gray followed with, “Badin stands out compared to other schools because of our family atmosphere.”
