As Thanksgiving is approaching, Student Council is having their Annual Canned Food Drive.
This food drive is a good was to not only gain Spirit Olympics eligibility, but it’s also a good way to help out the community. The canned goods will be going to those in need as the holiday season approaches.
“The canned goods people can bring in range from vegetables, to ramen packets, to peanut butter. Anything that you think could benefit someone else helps,” JJ Even, junior class president said.
This opportunity organized by student council is also a great way to receive extra credit in some of your classes. This is a great time in the quarter to get extra credit as a cushion for your grades.
“Teachers use the food drive to throw in some extra credit for the quarter. This provides a lot of motivation for students so they don’t forget about it. Its also nice to have a grade booster before we go on Thanksgiving break,” Even said.
Not only can students bring in cans to school, there are also opportunities to help collect cans in neighborhoods on the weekends.
“The juniors will be collecting cans this weekend in Village Green and next weekend in Lakewood. This will also count towards eligibility in Spirit Olympics, so make sure you are there!” Even said.
Lots of cans are already being turned in and more will always be appreciated. Cans will be accepted until Nov. 23.
