It’s the time of year where everything turns into madness. With Thanksgiving around the corner, Black Friday deals are already being announced.
This year is supposed to be a unique Black Friday experience. Lots of changes are being made due to the pandemic and company policies changing. One of these changes is that lots of large retail stores, like Target, will be closed all Thanksgiving Day.
“I think it’s good that workers are having a day off to spend with their family. I don’t think it was necessary to have people working at midnight on Thanksgiving just for Black Friday deals,” junior Evie Otto said.
Another change being made is the gradual shift to online shopping. Instead of the hassle to get Black Friday deals in stores, many have turned to shopping online. This avoids the crowds in stores, keeps you safe from sickness and allows you to browse at your own pace.
“I plan on doing my Black Friday shopping online because I feel like it allows me to make more rational decisions and not have to leave my home,” Otto said.
The craze for Black Friday is slowly going down over the years. This is good news for retailers because the supplies this year will be strained due to loss of production during the pandemic. The focus for a lot of stores will be selling more in-demand items. This means that the deals for some stores may be lacking.
“I think that Black Friday is going to become a holiday of the past due to the rise of online shopping. Nether less, I think it’s a fun holiday to follow Thanksgiving,” Otto said.
