Advanced Placement exams have been creating both stress and success for students since May 1956.
Students have the opportunity to receive a college credit for achieving a certain score on the AP exam in May. However if you don’t receive a score of 3 or above, you will not be credited for the class. Testing begins next week for this year’s AP exams and students are preparing for what will be expected of them.
“I take AP Language and AP US History, so I will have a test next Friday and a test the week after next on Tuesday. Hopefully I have prepared enough because I wouldn’t want my time this year to go to waste,” junior Meagan Kirkendall said.
AP exams last around four hours and will be held at the Fenmont in downtown Hamilton. This differs from last years exams, which were taken in the main gym during school. Students do not have to report to school the day of the AP exam.
“I am happy that we won’t have to take the exams at school because I think that could be more distracting with everyone walking around. However, I don’t really like the vibe the Fenmont has, but that doesn’t really matter,” Kirkendall said.
Teachers of AP courses have been preparing students for these exams all year, so ultimately it is up to the students whether or not they put in the time to study. Nonetheless, good luck to all testing in May.
