In journalism class in Room 108, we create a special bond and become a family during the sixth bell each year. This was true with the class of 2021 and the three journalism seniors.
Caroline Kammerer, Ryan Kirkendall and Noah Tincher were seniors in class last year who had taken the class since their sophomore year.
Kirkendall now attends Washington University in St. Louis, Kammerer attends Ohio University, and Tincher goes to Saint Joseph University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They all have taken different paths in college in majors and what they are getting involved with in extracurricular activities.
“My favorite thing that I’ve gotten involved with is WOUB, the local news station in Athens. I want to do broadcasting after college and this is a great way for me to get started with that. It’s mostly student-run and a great way for me to learn the ins and outs of broadcasting,” Kammerer said.
Kirkendall and Tincher were both heavily involved in the baseball program at Badin and continued that to their colleges.
“I haven’t gotten involved with much else yet because of baseball, but I have loved baseball so far. The team is great, all the guys and coaches have been very welcoming, and it’s been pretty cool to meet a bunch of dudes from all different parts of the country,”¨ Kirkendall said.
While Kirkendall is still undecided in major, Tincher and Kammerer have stayed close to their journalism roots with their majors. Kammerer is majoring in journalism news and information while Tincher is majoring in communications.
“Getting to study something I really enjoy and being able to play baseball at the same time,” Tincher said.
One thing they all agree on about Badin as a whole is missing the people of Badin that they would always see in the halls.
“I miss the people, especially all the people that make up the Badin Banner. Badin is full of great people, from teachers and administrators who care about to classmates and teammates that will become some of your best friends,” Kirkendall said.
Kammerer, Kirkendall, and Tincher all agreed not to take your time in high school for granted. The little things meant the most to them and those are the memories that you won’t get back after you graduate. Whether it is in a student section, lunch, class or waiting for lifting, memories are always being made, and it’s your job to capture those memories and keep them for a lifetime.
