Badin has welcomed many new teachers over the past few years, including Mr. Williams.
He joined the staff in the fall of 2020 and teaches art, animation, graphic designs, and photography. He worked hard to get to this spot after an adventurous life.
“I always liked the idea that in order to teach the students you have to do it yourself, but also by learning how to teach it you learn new parts of it yourself,” Williams said. “Just seeing how other people interpret the same idea can help you learn and get better. Seeing people grow as their interests and skills grow, as they evolve into full sized people is amazing.”
He was born and raised in Cincinnati, went to catholic school all of his childhood, and graduated in 1997 from Moeller High School. He originally went to Bowling Green University for animation, but switched into web design development with a minor in photography and graphic design.
“I started out in Urban Wilderness Design, a small graphic design company. From there I moved onto a second company called Parody Productions. Then I worked for a place called Atomic Computers Design. Then I worked for myself under the name Cowdog Designs freelance web designer developer for 10 years before I started teaching,” Williams said. “I started teaching at a community college first. Then my first lower grade I taught was St. Nicholas Academy, then St. Vivian, and then from there I came to Badin.”
Mr. Williams is not all work and no play though. He likes to stay active by playing hockey, gardening, catching up on pop culture, and riding his bike.
“In 2002 I did a full cross country from San Francisco to Washington DC on my bike,” Williams said.
Friday, April 29 was his wedding anniversary celebrating 16 years with a wife he met while in college.
“During our wedding reception, all of the sudden, it was overtaken by former cast members from reality tv shows including some from the Biggest Loser and Survivor. Come to find out they were staying in the hotel where the reception was, and one of my friends invited them all in,” Williams said.
He laughed this off, and together he and his wife have four kids who they loves dearly. He is committed to being a good and active father. He transfers this dedication from his family to the classroom as he’s someone positive, easy to talk to, and trustworthy. Mr. Williams is always ready to try new things and challenge himself whether mentally or physically.
“We’re all just trying to live simply, don’t complicate life,” Williams said.
