As the year progresses seniors have applied to colleges and the “senioritis” has set in. Elizabeth Kreimer gives an insight on what it's like to be a senior who just finished applying to college.
“The beginning of senior year was very hard. I had to balance service, work, homework and applying for college. For a couple months I didn't have time to do each of these things as well as I wanted to,” said Kreimer.
For seniors it is common for them to feel overwhelmed about the college application process, but Kreimer felt as if the process was made out to be more difficult than her personal experience.
“Applying to college was difficult but not as difficult as I thought it would be. Writing the essay was probably the most difficult part of the process but the questions were very easy. I just stress myself out for no type of reason,” said Kreimer.
As students progress through high school they complete many of the credits that are required to graduate and end up choosing easier classes for their senior year. Kreimer explains how senior year has been the most challenging so far and her view of the rigorous courses that she chose for her last year of high school.
“I would say this year has been the hardest because I took an AP class for the first time and honors physio which is very challenging in itself. I also did not sign up for a study hall so I don’t have the time that most people do to complete my homework and assignments during the school day,” said Kreimer.
As senior year is progressing, students start to reflect on the people that they will miss when they graduate.
“Mrs. Heinrich is my favorite teacher at Badin because she made chemistry fun. I would ask her a million questions and she would always be really nice and try to explain things in different ways for me to understand,” said Kreimer.
Each academic year has challenging classes but Kreimer shares her favorite course that she has taken so far.
“So far I really like economics even though it's really hard, but my dad owns a restaurant and economics plays a big role in that,” said Kreimer.
Most students struggle and dislike math courses and Kreimer is not short of the majority as she finds herself having to take extra time to understand the material.
“Precalc is my least favorite class but it's not anything to do with teaching, I just have a hard time with all math,” said Kreimer.
Even though it is the middle of the second quarter, Kreimer finds herself looking towards the future and finding out what colleges she gets accepted into.
“I am most excited to find out what colleges I got accepted into and what scholarship offers. When I get my acceptance letters I am going to tour the campuses,” said Kreimer.
As seniors start to get accepted into the colleges they applied to, they start to look back and recognize where their Badin education has led them.
