As the world begins to open up again, the theaters are finally having patrons come back to see films on the big screen once again. Especially with the influx of Marvel movies coming out and the recent DC Fandome event that happened just this weekend.
One of the latest movies to come out is the Venom sequel, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, and newest installment to the Sony Spider-Verse. The Sony Spider-Verse includes Tobey Magurie’s Spider-Man, Andrew Garfiled’s Spider-Man, Into the Spider-Verse, Venom, and the upcoming film Morbius.
While the sequel itself was a great film, the future of the Sony Spider-Verse and the company’s connection to Marvel is still a big question. A question which could be answered in the post-credit scene for the film.
Which means this is the spoiler warning! Don’t read ahead if you’d still like to be surprised when you see this scene in the theater first!
If you're still reading, then this is your last chance to stop before being spoiled.
As the stylized end credits begin to come to a close, the post-credit scene appears. The first film had two post credit scenes, one setting up the sequel and one towards Into The Spider-Verse. But this film only had one and is considered to be the most influential one yet.
The post-credit scene shows Eddie and Venom in a shabby room with a telenovela playing on the TV. Eddie and Venom chat about Venom’s existence and connection his planet has to billions of years worth of knowledge. He agrees to show just a small portion of that knowledge with Eddie and right before it occurs, a loud crash-like sound is heard.
As Eddie shoots upright, we can see his surroundings change almost like a pixelated TV screen. From a terrible room into a very luxurious hotel room, with a nicer TV that was playing the news instead of the soap opera.
After consoling Venom about the swan towels, Eddie looks at the TV screen with the Daily Bugle logo, the news company of the Spider-Man world, and J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jamenson. But this version of the character is based upon the post-credit scene from Marvel’s Spider-Man: Far From Home.
J. Jonah Jameson talks about the unmasking of Spider-Man and how he’s a menace to society as an image of Tom Holland in the Spider-Man suit shows up on the screen. Venom takes over and says “Him…” in a somewhat menacing tone before licking Holland’s face on the screen. Right before shifting back to Eddie who gets called out for being in his hotel room by a stranger.
Confirming Venom and Eddie’s involvement in the MCU and potentially within the upcoming third installment of Marvel’s Spider-Man, Spider-Man: No Way Home. A picture from a while ago had Tom Hardy, who plays Eddie Brock and Venom in the films, wearing a Spider-Man: No Way Home hat.
While it was just speculation, the theories had been spun about Venom entering the MCU. Though they were brushed off by simply saying he had visited the set one day and got a hat. Now, it is obvious that his visit to the set might have been much more involved than anyone realized.
It isn’t confirmed if Tom Hardy will be in the No Way Home film, but the theory wheel is spinning wildly out of control. Though this new information makes fans wonder, how does it all work together? Hopefully all the questions will be answered when Spider-Man: No Way Home comes out this December.
