As the cast of the newest Marvel TV show Hawkeye hit the red carpet Nov. 17, only adding to the anticipation fans feel to see this show.
However, before watching the mini series, we have to learn about what happened to Clint Barton after Avengers: Endgame. Which also means there’s a spoiler warning ahead! Do not read if you haven’t seen Avengers: Endgame and any Marvel projects after!
Unlike the other shows Marvel released, Hawkeye is taking place during the holiday season within the MCU as well. Five years after the events of the snap after the Avengers brought everyone back once again.
During those five years half the population was gone, Clint Barton had turned down a dark path. He became known as “Ronin”, dropping the super hero monaker of “Hawkeye” as he sought out vengeance during the snap.
It seems like that time is coming back to haunt him this holiday season as Kate Bishop attempts to stop crime dressed in similar attire as he did as Ronin. Kate Bishop, who becomes Hawkeye’s apprentice in the comics, is a huge fan of Hawkeye.
She hadn’t realized that dressing like her hero would also bring his enemies to her front door as well.
The newest trailer also describes the two of them taking on an Avengers level threat which is currently unknown. There are rumors speculating it could be Echo, who’s getting her own spinoff show, a character who can copy the combat moves of anyone she fights with.
Her father used to work for the crimelord and Spider-Man villain Kingpin in the comics who is rumored to be appearing in the show or in the upcoming Spider-Man movie, Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Kingpin had originally appeared in the TV show Daredevil as one of the big bad guys Matt Murdock had to face. And with the rumors of Daredevil appearing in No Way Home or the upcoming show She-Hulk alongside most of the villains in the show working under Kingpin… it’s safe to say that the character will be playing a major part in the future of the MCU even if he doesn’t show up in Hawkeye.
Another character in the show is Yelena Romanov from Marvel’s Black Widow. The post credit scene of the film had her visiting Natasha’s grave before being visited by Valentina, a character who seems to be forming the dark Avengers after appearing in the show Falcon and The Winter Solider.
Valentina showed Yelena a picture of Hawkeye dressed as Ronin with the promise of her to “have a shot at the man responsible for your sister’s death”. Though it’s not confirmed that she will be in the show, it defitinely sets up her character and Hawkeye fighting in the future.
But if there’s one obvious thing this show is setting up, is the passing on of the bow and arrows onto Kate Bishop to become the new Hawkeye.
While it will be sad to see Clint Barton as our Hawkeye go, knowing that the right successor is being set up for him to step out of the limelight is something fans are upset about and are ready to see.
Stay tuned for reviews over the first episode of the Hawkeye show premiering Nov. 24 along with the rumors and excitement from the latest trailer of Spider-Man: No Way Home.
