There are many new installments coming from Marvel Studios to further their cinematic universe.
The influx of movies was a welcomed shock for everyone after the lack of new content during the pandemic; yet, with all the joy that comes seeing these new movies and shows come to life, there’s always scepticism with them as well.
Marvel’s newest film Eternals is no stranger to the sceptics. The movie was the one film everyone was most curious about and wondered how this story would play out on the big screen.
As the trailers for the film came out, that scepticism continued to grow, even with Oscar winning Chloe Zhao directing the film. It wasn’t until the film critic reviews began to come out that a change appeared within the awaiting audience.
The movie reviews don’t decide whether or not the film is a make or break, however for a big franchise like Marvel is, the reviews can affect how many people see the film.
The most popular and well known movie review site is Rotten Tomatoes. Known for giving pretty decent reviews for a movie, both critic and audience rated. Eternal’s was no exception to this.
The film critic reviews began to come in late October for the film, slowly inching the percentage lower and lower until reaching a staggering 46%. With such a lower critic review score, Eternals quickly became the newest and lowest scoring Marvel film.
The scepticism for the film amongst fans and the general public came to a halting stop.
As the score kept sinking lower and lower, the outcry of the people grew louder. No one was going to take this review score seriously until after they saw the movie.
This isn’t the first time people saw such a low review score for a movie only to love the film. 2019’s Joker had received a score of 68% by film critics, only to be adored by fans.
Eternals officially premiered Nov. 5th, and has only received mostly positive reviews from the public. While the film isn’t perfect by any means, it certainly didn’t deserve the review score it received from the critics.
Even when facing scepticism from the public eye, the people choose to wait and see what the film was like before believing the reviews. The enjoyment people had seeing this film is clearly shown. This is a perfect example of “don’t judge a book by it’s cover”.
Marvel’s Eternals is officially in theaters everywhere. Go see it for yourself before deciding whether it’s a good film or not. Until then, Marvel’s newest TV series Hawkeye is coming out Nov. 24th, stay tuned for what you need to know before watching the show.
