When students aren't playing sports, doing their schoolwork, involved in service, etc. What do they do? Go on their phones.
After surveying 100 students, it is clear that their different interests are displayed with technology.
90% of students prefer Snapchat over Instagram. Snapchat is very popular at Badin seeing as they use that app the most.
“I like that you can send pictures in a group chat and the filters,” senior Elizabeth Kreimer said.
Another social media that 80% of students have is TikTok. TikTok has become extremely popular in the world along with the dances, songs, etc.
“It keeps me entertained and distracted if I need a mental break from something,” senior Haylie Jacobs said.
When students just want to listen to music more than half of the responders use Spotify. The second most popular is Apple Music with 25%.
Instead of watching Netflix on TV, 60% of students watch it on their phones.
When there is down time, 12% of students play Cooking Fever, 40% play Subway Surfers, 30% play Clash of Clans and 15% play Hay Day.
“Hay Day teaches hard work, money management and how to run a business,” senior Elizabeth Feltner said.
With all of these social media apps and games, how often are students on their phones?
An average of 40 students claim their screen time is 3 hours or less, 30 students have 4 hours, 11 students have 5 hours, 10 students say 6 hours and 19 students say more than 6.
It is very clear students are active on their phones (some more than others).
