Preparing for Exams

Midterms are back this year! Are Badin students ready for them?
Students who have midterm type projects Monday, December 13 and Tuesday, December 14 are roughly 90%.
Teachers of elective courses can choose how they would like to do midterms and whether that is a project or an exam.
Some classes, like Religion, are not doing midterms in a test form, but in the form of a project.
Students who have more than 5 exams are 28.1%. Students taking 5 exams show 35.2% of those who took the survey. Some 25.4% of students have to take 4 and the other students have 3 or less.
Students can take exams on specific times December 15-17. There are 3 exam periods Wednesday and Thursday. On Friday, 2 exam periods are allotted.
With the percentages in mind for how many exams students have to take, there needs to be a lot of studying going on.
Students show an average of 93% will be studying.
But how?
The responses include quizlets, reviewing notes, having parents quiz them, flashcards, making study guides, writing out material, reviewing practice exams the teacher provided, reviewing previous tests/quizzes.
The idea that students should not have to take midterms regardless of their average for quarters 1 and 2 is a better choice according to 76.1% of students.
Other students feel like it prepares them for college, it should be up to the teacher, and the rest are in the middle.
When it comes to nerves, 78.9% of students are nervous about midterms.
The rest are nervous about specific ones or not nervous about anything.
Majority of our students, 81.7%, have a lot to do to prepare for midterms.
Due to Covid 19, transfers, freshman 70.4% of our students have never taken a midterm and the others have taken a midterm but not last year.
In conclusion, midterms have brought a lot more stress in wrapping up the 1st semester and different study tools are put in place for different learning styles.
