Spirit Week is celebrated from February 14-18. Students dress up, decorate their hallway with a ram/senior theme, have a pep rally and have a class competition with games.
Erin Keating, Student Council Moderator, and Student Council are in charge of organizing the week, Penny Wars, talking to their classes to get ideas for dress up themes and hallway themes.
This year the dress up themes are PJ Day, Tacky Tourist Day (Hawaiian theme, airport look, etc.), Give Green Day (alumni, grandparents, parents, students, etc. wear green to show their support of Badin), Country vs. Country Club Day and Class Color Day (red-freshmen, blue-sophomores, yellow-juniors, purple-seniors).
The difference between this year and last year due to Covid is that we are all going to be in the gym again this year. Last year, we had to stay in our homerooms and watch it live from our classrooms.
“Since we are all in the gym, there is going to be more class participation and energy,” Elizabeth Feltner, Student Council President, said.
The pep rally gets the students hype and then the games begin.
According to Keating, “The games are the same as last year: Obstacle course, Basketball Relay, Dodgeball and Tug of War. We are going to be adding a new game this year as a trial – Spikeball.”
The Sophomore Class is currently leading in Spirit Points. But with all the activity points from Spirit Olympics, Penny Wars, Hallway Decorating and the class that dresses up the most, the class in the lead can easily change.
The hallway themes this year are That Senior Show, Batram (Junior Class), Rammys (Sophomore Class) and Indiana Jones: Temple of the Hidden Ram (Freshman Class).
“Spirit Week is my favorite week of the school year. I like seeing the entire school together to celebrate the comradery,” Keating said.
