High school is a huge transition from middle school no matter where you decide to go. Freshmen have had to adapt to a new environment and people this school year.
The 2021-2022 school year only has two months left. This means freshmen have a good idea of what the next three years will look like for them.
“I started off a little nervous about going to Badin because a lot of my friends went to Fenwick and I didn’t have people from my grade school coming here like a lot of other people did,” freshman Macey Blanton said.
Getting adjusted to high school and the people around you can be made a lot easier by joining sports teams. Particularly fall sports because training will start in the summer, so you can go into the school year with some familiar faces.
“Joining soccer helped me make a lot of friends in my own grade and get to know upperclassmen. I think I’m going to continue to be friends with the people I met all throughout high school, so I’m glad soccer forced me to meet new people,” Blanton said.
High school brings a lot of changes academically and socially. A lot more responsibility is expected of you while you also have to branch out to new people.
“I think my school work is manageable, although sometimes it’s hard doing multiple sports. I think that keeping good friendships is easy through sports because I see the same people everyday. I also like that I have time in my classes throughout the day to talk to everyone,” Blanton said.
High school comes with a lot of freedom, but also a lot of responsibility. Freshmen are almost to the point where they will have to set an example for the Class of 2026 and will no longer have to be the youngest in the school. Freshmen are excited for what is to come for the rest of their high school careers.
