Homecoming Tickets: What Your $25 Covers

By: Mikey Madden

Homecoming season is an exciting time for Badin students. Although students are filled with happiness about the event, their wallets are being emptied by expensive ticket prices.

The cost for an individual ticket to Badin’s Homecoming is $25. Compared to other schools, this is a very high price for attending the school dance. Most high schools in the local area sell their tickets for $10 each. Confusion over Badin’s increase in pricing has left some to wonder how their money is being used.

“We don’t get our money’s worth,” said junior Charlie Vidourek, “The price should cover some snacks and paying the DJ.”

Some students believe that the dance should be free, as preparing for the dance itself is quite expensive. Senior Katie Hopewell said, “We already spend so much on dresses, ties, boutonnières, corsages, dinner, heels, hair, makeup, and jewelry.”

In response to all the criticism, Mrs. Keating, Student Council Advisor, brought the situation some closure. “The money for the Homecoming tickets goes towards BalloonWorks decorations, photo booth pictures, paying the DJ, drinks and snacks provided at the dance and formal pictures,” said Keating.

Mrs. Keating also mentioned that tickets for last year’s Homecoming were $30 per ticket. This means that the price has actually decreased from last year, as our school is finding new ways to create perfect Homecoming experiences for a cheaper price.
