The Badin Banner

Upon the arrival of Homecoming, Badin soon turns into a frenzy. From the energy for the upcoming football game, to the creative ways people ask who they want to the dance, Badin’s student body becomes full of excitement and buzz. This year was no exception. Due to the extremely hard work of the staff, administration and students, Badin was transformed into someplace magical on the night of Sept. 21.

There are many parts of Homecoming that make it a special place, such as the music, decorations, theme and the people that help organize it. Among all this hustle and bustle are some pros and cons.

Senior Caitlyn Conrad shared, “It was fun but some aspects of it were way more stressful.”

Nonetheless, Badin’s homecoming this year was one of the best yet and hopefully sets the bar for many more to come.

Prior to the night of the dance, a lot of time and effort is put into preparations. Some find it stressful getting a date, a dress and organizing groups ahead of time.

Sophomore Emma Melzer shared, “Finding a dress and figuring out who was in my group was stressful, but once I got everything figured out and saw it finally come together it was a blast.”

As soon as students walk into the gym, it is time to let loose and make memories. This is when the fun truly begins.

Hanging out with a group of friends can really set the mood for the entire evening. The question many face is going with a group of friends or a date.

Senior Ethan Emmons prefers going with a date.

“You can really experience each other and bond,” Emmons said.

A date can be fun to slow dance with and adds to the “homecoming atmosphere”. However, when someone is with their friends they can be themselves and party hard. Often, people go in groups oriented around their friends and their dates which solves this problem.

“I like going with a date in a group of friends because there’s no pressure and everyone can just have fun,” junior Caroline Kammerer said.

Another major aspect to this dance is the music. After all, there is no such thing as a great dance without great music right? Although, according to the majority of Badin students, this year the music was a downfall.

Junior Tatum Palechek commented, “Play music that’s actually fun to listen and dance to. Play songs from our generation.”

This feeling was shared among the student body. People enjoy music that is upbeat and easy to dance to. A large amount of music that is listened to are modern songs, and that is what students want to hear. They also feel that the school needs to bring back a DJ who will take song requests.

“Bring back Mr. Enderle,” sophomore Haley Drott said.

Overall, it was with large agreement that this year’s homecoming was better than last year. Not only were the decorations a huge success, with the main feature being the balloon drop, but there were newer additions that added to the fun as well. It was to much relief that the Homecoming Court was announced earlier than last year, providing people the opportunity to leave sooner. The theme was also better which just ultimately gave this year’s dance a more crazy, funky vibe.

With all these factors, Homecoming is always sure to be a blast for the Badin Ramily. There was a huge turnout this fall, and hopefully this trend continues with future Homecoming dances at Badin High School.
