The Hill: Both sides of the story

The Administration

by Colby Stolph

Going to The Hill after Badin football games has been a student tradition for many years. Just last week, it got taken away by Mr. Imhoff and the Badin administration.

“There is too much trash left in the parking lot, too loud of music being played, and the vaping done by many students will not be tolerated,” Mr. Imhoff said. “The students need to learn how to act or The Hill will not be given back.”

As of yesterday, The Hill was gone and the students at Badin High School were very sad about this. Badin won a big game against Edgewood last week at Fairfield, winning by more than 21 points and making it look easy. The students were all hyped up and glad as this was the first win of the season for the Rams, but everyone had to go home after.

While this is bad news, and week 3 wasn’t as joyous as it could’ve been for the Badin Ramily, The Hill was given back yesterday afternoon.

“The Hill is good for the student body and it really brings the students together after the games, I love the idea of it,” Imhoff said. “But The Hill will only stay available if the students keep it appropriate. This is a second chance.”

The Hill might be back, but there are new constraints on the way students celebrate after games. The old antics aren’t going to be tolerated, so they are trying to be prevented.

“If the students keep the music down and quit the littering and vaping, a talk of banning The Hill will never again be a discussion. There will be administrators and a police officer stationed on The Hill to regulate these things. We hope this will stop any problems.

Will The Hill stay; that is to be determined. One thing is for sure; when it comes to the hill, Badin administration isn’t messing around.

The Students

by Katie Ropka

Going to The Hill after a football game has been a long time tradition at Badin and the Class of 2020 student section leader Kaden Kimbrell was not going to let this tradition end.

“The Hill will not get taken away again, the seniors will make sure of it,” Kimbrell said.

Kimbrell worked hard to convince the administrators that we are mature enough to not do stupid things at The Hill so we could get it back.

“I had talked to Mr. Imhoff and Mrs. Bucheit countless times on whether or not we would get The Hill back,” Kimbrell said.

After one week of The Hill being banned, the administration decided to give it back but under certain conditions. One condition is that a teacher must stay on The Hill after games to make sure we pick up our trash and don’t blast music.

“It definitely wasn’t the same but it will slowly get better if students continue to do the right thing,” Kimbrell said.

Following these new rules, everyone has high hopes that The Hill will remain a lasting tradition and will not get taken away permanently.

“If The Hill was to get taken away permanently, I would 100% start a new tradition. I haven't really thought of anything different besides meeting up and doing the same as The Hill, just a different location,” Kimbrell said.
