Every year near mid-October, Badin sophomores, juniors and seniors gear up and get ready for one of the most exciting events in the Badin calendar, Nerf Wars.
Nerf Wars consists of going around to people's houses and shooting them with a Nerf gun to get them out.
“Nerf Wars brings great competition and also brings people together,” commissioner Gabe Hirka said.
This is Hirka’s first year as a commissioner and he is excited to be one.
Hirka took part in Nerf Wars as a sophomore and was taken out in the first round, giving him just a taste of the fun. He did not participate in his junior year, so he decided to take a leadership role his senior year as the commissioner.
“Having final say knowing you have absolute power,” Hirka said when asked what the best part of being the commissioner.
The commissioner always tries to leave his mark and Hirka has big plans.
“I want to make a spring Nerf War,” Hirka said. “I believe it will spice up spring time because it is a slow time and if we can make it fun, the vibe around school will be better.”
A spring Nerf War has always been a thought, but if Hirka can pull it through, it would be a great way for Hirka to leave his mark
