Sleep, everyone needs it. It has one of the biggest impacts of your day, yet some people decide not to sleep as much as possible. People often complain on the weekdays of lack of sleep, but have they ever put into consideration on why they get that much sleep.
According to The National Sleep Foundation sleep is a vital indicator of overall health and well-being. Those stimulants that you rely on such as coffee, energy drinks, alarm clocks, etc actually interfere with your circadian rhythm or natural sleep cycle.
Some of us have sleep debt, where we say “ I’ll catch up on sleep over the weekend”. This however, does not work, doctors and scientists say teenagers and young adults need anywhere from 7-10 hours of sleep per night to be fully rested.
Overall it is clear that sleep is an important factor, and shouldn’t be pushed aside for homework you procrastinated, sports or other activities.
